Carers Social Networks
Carers Social Networks
Guideposts facilitates a number of social networks across the region. The aim of this is to:
- give carers an opportunity to meet other carers and forge new friendships
- give carers a break from their caring role and a chance to relax away from home
- arrange a lively programme of events and speakers of interest to carers
- give carers an opportunity to access training which will help in the caring role such as manual handling or first aid
- Be a source of information and advice on carer issues
- Be an opportunity to speak to a Carer Support Worker in an informal setting
If you have never attended and are nervous about attending a first meeting read what these carers say:
"Meeting a group of people for the first time was nerve-wracking....but I entered the room and was greeted by friendly smiles"
"It felt like a family, so close to each other,it was brilliant...I am so happy I had the courage to attend in the first place"
